Internship & Fellowship Opportunities

EXTERNALLY-FUNDED LEGAL FELLOWSHIP

IJDH is offering to host a graduating law student or recent law graduate for a one or two-year externally-funded legal Fellowship focused on advancing Haitian human rights. The Fellowship is designed to train and empower new lawyers to advance social justice movements in the Global South through immersive practice in human rights advocacy within a solidarity framework. Deadline to apply: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, so applicants are strongly encouraged to submit applications early.

LEGAL INTERSHIP

The Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti (IJDH) is seeking dynamic law students or recent law graduates to help Haitians vindicate their rights and reclaim their democracy from internal repression and external interference. Haiti is currently facing profound human rights challenges, including violence by armed groups, unprecedented hunger, and closed hospitals and schools. But these are symptoms of a deeper crisis: decades of problematic foreign policies that have robbed Haiti of its resources and enabled a series of repressive Haitian governments that have persistently dismantled the country’s democracy. These and other human rights violations are what we work to confront.

Volunteer Opportunities

Are you fluent in French and/or Kreyol? IJDH needs you. We have a great need for people who can translate both from French and/or Kreyol into English, and vice versa. Some knowledge of and/or familiarity with legal terms is helpful for many documents, but not all. If you have experience translating and are readily available by email, please CONTACT US.
