Thanks to the Generosity of Our Friends We Can Offer Special Gifts!

We are grateful for any amount you choose to donate, but are pleased to offer gifts for those donating at the $150, $300, $443 and $600 levels. The first two levels of giving represent approximately half of the average US tax rebate for an individual or family respectively. Or please consider making a symbolic gesture of solidarity by matching an individual victim’s contribution of $443 – over one year’s living expenses for each victim and no more than a few days pay for most of us. Or consider the impact of a donation of $600 -- which will keep the BAI fighting another day to keep the doors of justice open for children who want to go to school, for political prisoners who want to be reunited with their families, and for victims of political persecution who want to have their day in court.

Be a Witness to Justice in Haiti

For your donation of $150 or more, Christine Cynn and Harriet Hirshorn offer a DVD of their award-winning documentary, Pot Make Sonje (Whoever Bears the Scar Remembers), which tells the story of the Raboteau victims' fight for justice in Haiti.

“Pote Mak Sonje: The Raboteau Trial explores how a community mobilized against formidable obstacles - a long history of impunity, corruption, lack of infrastructure, extreme poverty, and illiteracy - to bring about the best criminal prosecution ever in Haiti, and one of the most significant human rights trials in the Western hemisphere in the last 20 years. Weaving emotional interviews and extraordinary trial footage with more abstract lyrical images, the documentary shows the significance of the trial for Haiti and for the victims of a massacre who finally confront their attackers.” For more information on the DVD, click here .

In An Unbroken Agony

"In An Unbroken Agony, bestselling author and social justice advocate Randall Robinson explores the heroic and tragic history of Haiti. He traces the history of a people forced across the Atlantic in chains; recounting their spectacularly successful slave revolt against France and the two hundred years of reprisals that would follow. The fate of Aristide's presidency is tied to this people's century-long quest for self-determination and his removal from power exposes the apartheid-like forces that frustrate these aspirations even today." "Damning the Flood, Haiti, Aristide, and the Politics of Containmnet"

"Damning the Flood unfinchingly examines the head questions many of us ask about the struggles of the Lavalas movement to implement its progressive social program and the efforts of the U.S. and other powerful countries, and a hostile Haitian elite to stop the program. After a brief summary of Haitian history from the Revolution to 1990, Hallward carefully examines the advances of the Lavalas movement- especially electoral victories in 1990, 1995 and 2000 - and the setbacks- especially the coups d'etat of 1991 and 2004. The focal point of his analysis is the century of Haitian people who are poor and Haitian elites, supported by the media and organizations they control, and the powerful countries they cultivate."
