Overview

The right to vote in free and fair elec­tions is a right guar­an­teed by Haiti’s 1987 Con­sti­tu­tion and bind­ing inter­na­tional law. We believe that Haitians’ right to vote will be severely vio­lated if the deci­sion of Haiti’s Pro­vi­sional Elec­toral Coun­cil (PEC), to exclude 14 par­ties from the Par­lia­men­tary elec­tions pre­vi­ously sched­uled for Feb­ru­ary and March 2010, is allowed to stand.
