Intern­ships

Intern­ships with IJDH are unpaid but will pro­vide stu­dents sig­nif­i­cant train­ing and expe­ri­ence. IJDH will also work with stu­dents who elect to obtain aca­d­e­mic credit. Both part-time and full-time intern­ships are avail­able. Part-time interns com­mit to a min­i­mum sched­ule of 15 hrs. per week.

Imme­di­ate Open­ing for Vol­un­teer Coor­di­na­tor Intern (Spring 2012): More About Position(PDF)

This is an unpaid posi­tion but will pro­vide an expe­ri­enced human resources pro­fes­sional with an oppor­tu­nity to donate exper­tise and grow this posi­tion within our orga­ni­za­tion. This posi­tion also offers interns sig­nif­i­cant train­ing in non­profit vol­un­teer coor­di­na­tion. We are able to work with stu­dents to obtain school credit, if available.

An expe­ri­enced vol­un­teer must com­mit to work­ing a min­i­mum of 30 hours/week and may enjoy a flex­i­ble sched­ule and work remotely and in the office for 1–2 days per week.  Interns should plan to work in the office for a min­i­mum of 15 hours/week.  A min­i­mum of 3 months is required with the pos­si­bil­ity of extension.

The posi­tion is ideal for an under­grad­u­ate or grad­u­ate stu­dent inter­ested in global human rights advo­cacy and non­profit online media. Must be a strong writer and be famil­iar with social media. Strong pref­er­ence for a full-time can­di­date will­ing to com­mit to more than 3 months.

Pro Bono Opportunities

  • Lawyer’ Earth­quake Response Net­work (LERN)IJDH estab­lished LERN — a national net­work of lawyers, law pro­fes­sors and law stu­dents — to form a legal response to the earth­quakes in Haiti based on human rights prin­ci­ples to mit­i­gate Haiti’s vul­ner­a­bil­ity to the next earth­quake, hur­ri­cane or other stress.
  • Lawyers’ Com­mit­tee for Jus­tice in Haiti (LCJH): If you are a lawyer and inter­ested in work­ing on pro bono projects pro­mot­ing the rule of law in Haiti and jus­tice for Hait’s poor, con­sider join­ing the LCJH here.
