Miami Her­ald Let­ter to the Editor

Haiti’s rainy sea­son is caus­ing mis­ery to mil­lions whom the earth­quake made home­less, and the hur­ri­cane sea­son looms. When will the Obama admin­is­tra­tion bring in the 55,000 ben­e­fi­cia­ries of already-approved visa peti­tions? They’re already in the pipeline. Their remit­tances would do more to help Haiti recover than 15 sep­a­rate aid bills.

All South Florida mem­bers of Con­gress should sup­port HR 4616, which would grant the visas, and Rep. Alcee Hast­ings, D-Miramar, is to be applauded for doing so.
